Burnley striker Sam Vokes hopes to end the Clarets 38-year wait to taste victory against Blackburn at Turf Moor. Promotion-chasing Burnley, who are yet to lose a league game in 2016, host Rovers on Saturday looking for a first home victory over their Lancashire rivals since 1978.The Clarets head into this weekends round of fixtures sat top of the Sky Bet Championship but, with second and third-placed Hull and Middlesbrough playing before them, they could find themselves as low as third in table come Saturday lunchtime. However, despite admitting his sides determination to beat Blackburn, Vokes was keen to stress Burnley would not let the hostility associated with a derby distract from the clubs promotion hopes. This derby feels significant, it always does, you can feel the build-up around the training ground in the week leading to the derby, he told the FL72 Podcast. But there are a load of big games coming up for us in the Championship race so, at the minute, were focusing on it as another big game in a good season. FL72 Podcast - Sam Vokes, Liam Rosenior and Conor Coady Blackburn played an extra game this week, which was a tough one against Middlesbrough, but Im sure theyll be as up for this game as we are. Theyll be ready for the game on Saturday just as much as we will be.Every derby I have been involved in has been a big occasion and this one on Saturday is another massive one. We got the result at Ewood Park earlier in the year and that was a big result for the fans and the team at the time, well be looking to replicate that.It would be massive to get on win. Since I have been at Burnley we have been on a run of draws at home against Blackburn so it would be fantastic to win. Burnley claimed a 1-0 victory over Blackburn at Ewood Park in the sides last outing You could see what it meant to the fans when we won away twice, so to do that at home would be a great feeling.A serious knee injury ruled Vokes out of Burnleys run-in to promotion in 2014, with the striker subsequently missing a large chunk of the Clarets top-flight campaign in 2014/15.And the 26-year-old is keen to play a greater role in the clubs promotion bid this time around, adding: The last time we got promoted it was a great season, it was great to be involved in. This derby feels significant. It would be massive to win. We got the result at Ewood Park earlier in the year and that was a big result for the fans and the team at the time, we’ll be looking to replicate that. Burnley striker Sam Vokes I picked up the injury towards the end of that season and missed most of the year in the Premier League so it would be fantastic to repeat that and get back there. There is a long way to go before that though, so we are just concentrating on getting there. There is a completely different expectation on our shoulders this season compared to last time because we were the surprise package that year and no one really expected us to stay up there and we did all season. It was a great achievement in that way but this year people look at us in a different light. Coming to Turf Moor, were more of a scalp than we were that year as people have seen we were a Premier League club last year, so the games are obviously bigger. It was tough at the start of this season to deal with that but, as the season has gone, we have started to show what we are all about.Watch Burnley v Blackburn live on Saturday, 12.30pm, Sky Sports 1 & 5 HD Also See: FL72 Podcast Championship video Fixtures Table Tristan Thompson Jersey .com) - Christian Ponder will get another chance to prove himself for the Minnesota Vikings, with head coach Leslie Frazier announcing Wednesday that the struggling quarterback will start this weekends game against the Green Bay Packers. Glamorgan 291 for 7 (Rudolph 76*, Selman 52, Magoffin 3-47) v SussexScorecard Skipper Jacques Rudolph held Glamorgans batting together with an unbeaten half-century on an attritional first day in their Specsavers County Championship match against Sussex.A slow Hove pitch which encouraged Sussex to play legspinner Will Beer for the first time in a four-day match for nearly three years proved hard work for stroke players but Rudolph defied a persistent attack to reach 76 at stumps with Glamorgan on 291 for 7, having won the toss.Earlier, Australian Nick Selman had made his maiden Championship fifty in only his second appearance while Beer had reason to celebrate too when he picked up his first wicket in the competition at Hove, eight years after making his debut for the county. But it proved to be a day suited to someone with Rudolphs phlegmatic temperament. The South African hardly played a false shot in more than three-and-a-half hours at the crease. So far he has faced 168 balls and hit eight fours.Sussex kept plugging away and they clearly enjoyed Beers big moment when he ended a stand of 61 for the fourth wicket between Aneurin Donald and Rudolph by bowling Donald (29) off an inside edge as he shaped to cut in what is only Beers tenth fiirst-class match.ddddddddddddSelman had earlier shared stands of 41 with Mark Wallace (20) and 65 with Will Bragg (29) as Sussex enjoyed just one success before lunch when Wallace was squared up by Stuart Whittingham and edged behind.Selman was dropped on 25 by Whittingham as he dived forward at long leg but after lunch Whittingham defeated Selmans forward push with a nip-backer after hed made 52 (109 balls, 6 fours) before Bragg was smartly taken at second slip by Chris Nash.Sussex employed four spinners and the quartet bowled a third of their overs but it was their seamers who made further inroads when they took the new ball.Steve Magoffin took his second wicket with his first delivery with it as David Lloyd was lbw playing down the wrong line after contributing 37 to a fifth wicket stand of 69 in 23 overs with Rudolph.Ajmal Shahzad picked up belated reward when Graham Wagg (7) edged a drive to slip before Craig Meschede top-edged a hook off Magoffin and was caught at second slip for a duck. But debutant Owen Thomas hooked Magoffin for six in his unbeaten 15 as Glamorgan avoided further loss before the close. ' ' '
