KNOXVILLE, Tenn. - Junior Chatham DeProspo recorded a first half hat-trick, while freshman Taylor Hubbard and sophomore Abbie Boswell tallied goals to help lift the Alabama soccer team to a 5-1 victory over the Tennessee Volunteers on Friday night at the Regal Soccer Stadium.With todays win, Alabama improves to an overall 6-1 record marking the best start since the 2005 campaign, while Tennessee falls 3-4 overall.Alabamas offensive attack came early in the first half, as DeProspo drilled a shot in the back of the net in the eighth minute from 20 yards out to give the Crimson Tide an early 1-0 lead.?The offensive rhythm would continue for DeProspo, as she converted from 25 yards out at the 29:04 minute mark off a pass from sophomore Emma Welch to give Alabama a 2-0 lead. DeProspo extended the Alabama lead to 3-0, as she completed her first half hat-trick in the 34th minute on a free kick from 20 yards out off a foul that Boswell drew. The offensive push wasnt over for the Crimson Tide, as Hubbard scored her first career goal at the 41:09 minute mark off a pass from Welch extending the Tide lead to 4-0 going into halftime. Alabama collected four goals on just five shots in the first half.Junior goal keeper Kat Stratton picked up one save in the half. The second half was a possession battle until the 59th minute when Tennessees Carlyn Baldwin converted off a rebounded penalty kick to bring the score to 4-1. The Tide struck again at the 75:08 minute mark, as Boswell converted from 16 yards out in the upper left corner off a throw in from senior Caroline Alexander resulting in the final score, 5-1. Alabama registered eight shots and two corner kicks in the second half.Stratton collected four saves in the half. Stratton tallied five saves in the 90 minute affair, and she improves her overall record between the posts to 6-1.
