Shaun Marsh is not expected to be in contention for the Boxing Day Test against Pakistan, which could offer another opportunity for Nic Maddinson. Marsh broke a finger during Australias loss to South Africa at the WACA in the first Test of the summer, and Cricket Australias team performance chief, Pat Howard, said it was highly unlikely Marsh would be passed fit for Boxing Day.Speaking on ABC radio on Sunday morning, Howard said Marsh was to have X-rays in the next couple of days, but the likely plan was for him to make his comeback in the Perth Scorchers second BBL match against Sydney Sixers on December 27. Marsh scored 63 and 15 opening the batting with David Warner in the Perth Test, having scored centuries in his previous two Tests.Joe Burns was reinstated as Warners opening partner for the second Test against South Africa in Hobart but failed in both innings, and the selectors picked young Queensland opener Matt Renshaw to make his debut in the Adelaide Test that followed. Renshaw has shown enough in his first two Tests to suggest that he could be given an extended run in the side. But there is also a strong case, based on recent form, that Marsh should return to the side when he is passed fit, and he is likely to be part of the touring party for Februarys Test campaign in India. The success of Renshaw and Peter Handscomb, who both made their debuts in Adelaide, means fellow debutant Maddinson is the most logical casualty should Marsh come back.Although Marshs most recent stint in the Test side was as opener, he has moved up and down the order in both Test and first-class cricket, and could comfortably slot into the middle order. Maddinson has made 0, 1 and 4 in his three pink-ball Test innings and Howard would not be drawn on whether he would be given a chance in a red-ball Test in Melbourne. On a personal note, youd like to see anyone do well. Its been really pleasing to see three debutants, two have actually put down fantastic markers, Howard said. Obviously with Nic, we all talked about Adelaide being tough. But the other thing is, theres never the perfect opportunity.Im sure Callum Ferguson would love an opportunity. And so theres never the perfect way or perfect opportunity, and youve got to take whats on offer. Nic or anybody else, when that opportunity is presented, youve got to come and take it with both hands. And I think that does apply no matter what the age. However, Howard conceded that when selecting Test players, a different set of criteria might be used for younger players compared to older players, with veterans needing to dominate Sheffield Shield cricket in the manner of Adam Voges and Chris Rogers to earn call-ups.Theyve got to top the run-scoring, theyve got to absolutely dominate in Shield, Howard said when asked on radio by Rogers what the future was for the likes of Ferguson and Cameron White, both in their 30s. And I think that sends a fantastic message to all the Shield players. Theyve got to play really well. There is the opportunity absolutely, to do that. For the younger players, youve got to be able to talent ID. Youve got to be able to go Ive seen enough in this player to be able to go to the next step. I dont think thats anything different from the past, but yeah, you expect higher standards [of older players]. Yeezy Boost 350 Uk Sale . Aside from the trilogy main event title fight, there are a number of intriguing matchups in the heavyweight, welterweight and lightweight divisions.PHILADELPHIA -- Nick Foles, youre up. Foles will be the starting quarterback when the Philadelphia Eagles play their second preseason game against the Carolina Panthers on Thursday night. Michael Vick started last weeks 31-22 to loss to New England and now its Foles turn to take the first snap. The two quarterbacks have been alternating days starting out with the first team so coach Chip Kelly said last week Foles would go first this time because Vick opened the first game. Vick was 4 of 5 for 94 yards, including a perfect 47-yard touchdown pass to DeSean Jackson in two series against the Patriots. Foles lost a fumble on his first series, but led the Eagles to a TD on his next one against New England backups. "I need to go out there and execute the offence and put points on the board," Foles said. "Thats always been the ultimate goal. Just learn from the last one and move forward, just take these practices and get better. Its the same way Ive approached everything Ive always done. Im not changing anything. Im going to keep doing the things that Ive done my whole life that got me here, and that is just work as hard as I possibly can and take it one play a time." Both quarterbacks are expected to play about one quarter apiece against the Panthers. Kelly has both listed as the No. 1 guy on the unofficial depth chart, and hes in no hurry to pick a starter. After rookie Matt Barkley took snaps with the starters in Tuesdays practice, Kelly joked that he would be the starter for Week 1 against Washington. "In the ideal world, wed like to get them into the first and second quarter, and not see those guys at all in the second half," Kelly said about Foles and Vick. "But it depends on how it plays itself out." Kelly didnt show too much of his up-tempo offence last week, though he did use a variety of formations and sets. Vick estimated the Eagles ran less than one-third of their plays. The Eagles started out of the huddle against the Patriots and then went to a hurry-up with Foles before slowing down when Barkley came in. Kelly wont give away his plans, but he suggested the team isnt always going to be running that same fast-paced style he used at Oregonn.dddddddddddd "Theres times were going to have to play fast and times were going to have to play slow," Kelly said. "Really, the game itself dictates what youre going to have to do. Ive said that all along. If youre up, you dont want to play fast, you want to work the clock. But there were certain things in that game we wanted to get accomplished. Our first full game with officials, so just trying to get a feel for it." Running back LeSean McCoy, an All-Pro in 2011, will see his first preseason action against Carolina. But five-time Pro Bowl left tackle Jason Peters likely wont play because of a hamstring injury thats sidelined him since July 31. On defence, the Eagles get a look at Cam Newton after seeing two opposite styles last week when they faced Tom Brady and Tim Tebow. Brady picked the secondary apart and the Patriots had their way running the ball against Philadelphias defence. "We would have hoped that it would look better than it looked," defensive co-ordinator Billy Davis said. "I was hoping to be further along at this point, but the film is the truth. The game tells you everything you need to know about where we are. Weve got a lot of work to do in tackling still. In order to be a great defence, weve got to make sure we can fit together as a team, and know how each individuals technique is attached to the other techniques which are attached. And were still in the early stage of that learning curve." New cornerback Cary Williams, who started for the Super Bowl champion Baltimore Ravens last year, will make his Eagles debut against the Panthers. Williams has been in the spotlight for comments he made first after skipping voluntary workouts in the spring and then saying this week the Eagles defence isnt feared. Williams later clarified his remarks, explaining that the Eagles are working toward building the type of defence the Ravens had. "I think every NFL defence, every defence in the NFL is striving to be a feared, respected defence," Davis said. "The only way you can get to where youre feared and respected is by playing great defence and being able to get off blocks, make tackles, stop the run." ' ' '
