Paris, France (Sports Network) - Serena Williams put last years early exit at the French Open behind her by dominating her first-round match Sunday in Paris. Her sister wasnt as fortunate, however. Williams, the top seed and 2002 womens champion, had no problems whatsoever in extending her career-best winning streak to 25 straight matches after cruising to a 6-0, 6-1 rout of Georgias Anna Tatishvili on the famed red clay of Roland Garros. The current World No. 1 suffered her first and only loss in the opening round of a Grand Slam event last year in Paris when she fell to Frances Virginie Razzano. Williams has titled in each of her last four events (Miami, Charleston, Madrid and Rome) coming into the French Open. Venus Williams, who lost to Serena in an all-sibling final at this prestigious event in 2002, wasnt able to prevail in a hard-fought bout with Urszula Radwanska in which the 22-year-old Polish native held on for a 7-6 (7-5), 6-7 (4-7), 6-4 win. After the first two sets were decided by tiebreakers, Radwanska broke the 30th-seeded Venus twice in the third en route to taking a 5-1 lead. Williams rebounded with a break later on and took the next three games, but Radwanska held serve to come out on top in a 3-hour, 19-minute marathon. Its only the second time Venus Williams was ousted in the first round of the French Open during her long and storied career, with the other coming in 2001. Elsewhere on Day 1, fifth-seeded Sara Errani started her run for another title appearance with a 6-1, 6-2 victory over Arantxa Rus. Errani fell to Russian superstar Maria Sharapova in last years French Open title match. The days biggest upset was produced by Puerto Ricos Monica Puig, who upended 11th-seeded Russian Nadia Petrova 3-6, 7-5, 6-4. Puig is making her Grand Slam debut. Ana Ivanovic, the 2008 champion and No. 14 seed, got past Petra Martic 6-1, 3-6, 6-3, while 19th-seeded Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova outlasted Andrea Hlavackova 4-6, 7-6 (7-5), 6-4. Sorana Cirstea, seeded 26th, posted a 5-7, 7-5, 6-2 win over Kiki Bertens and No. 32 seed Sabine Lisicki discarded Sofia Arvidsson 6-3, 6-4.
