d zone and goal-line work.We get a lot of work against some good players, Stee Antworten

CINCINNATI -- New Bengals offensive coordinator Ken Zampese isnt sure why people think anything will be different this time around. Its the same offense, the first-year coordinator said. Nothings changed.Maybe the Xs and Os are the same, but the folks filling the roles have changed in Cincinnati for the first time in a while. The receiving group is largely new. The tight end position is in flux. And the quarterback has recovered from a broken wrist that ended his breakthrough season and left everyone wondering how much more he can do.Training camp at Paul Brown Stadium will provide the first glimpse of how it all fits together, and what still needs to be done before the season opener on Sunday, Sept. 11 at the Jets.As time goes on, well continue to get better and understand more, but were in a good place right now, quarterback Andy Dalton said. The Bengals won 12 games last season for only the third time in franchise history. They lost to the Steelers at home in December -- Dalton broke his right wrist while making a tackle on an interception return -- and then lost again to the Steelers 18-16 in the first round of the playoffs at Paul Brown Stadium. They blew a late lead in one of the biggest meltdowns in postseason history.Dalton missed the last three regular-season games and the playoff loss, Cincinnatis fifth straight season of losing an opening-round game. They havent won in the postseason in 25 years, tied for the sixth-longest streak of futility in NFL history. In the offseason, the Bengals spent most of their money in keeping the defense intact after it gave up the second-fewest points in the league. Middle linebacker Vontaze Burfict will miss the first three games on an NFL suspension for repeated illegal hits, including his hit to the head of Steelers receiver Antonio Brown during the last-minute meltdown in the playoffs. The offense is a different matter, with change starting right at the top. Zampese was elevated from quarterbacks coach after Hue Jackson took the head coaching job in Cleveland. Jackson liked to push the envelope with his creativity, even having Dalton catch a touchdown pass in one game. Zampese will likely be less adventuresome.Zamps personality is a little different than Hue, Dalton said. The offense as a whole, and schematically, is going to take on what he likes. There are some things similar, and some things well do different. Here are five things to watch during the Bengals camp:DALTONS RETURN: Dalton got his breakthrough season last year, his fifth in the NFL. He completed 66 percent of his passes for 3,250 yards with 25 touchdowns and only seven interceptions. His passer rating of 106.3 set a club record and was second to Seattles Russell Wilson (110.1) for the league lead. The question is how much more room he has to grow.A.J. AND WHO ELSE: A.J. Green leads a receiving group in transition. Marvin Jones and Mohamed Sanu -- who finished second and third in catches last season -- left as free agents. Brandon LaFell was signed as a free agent, and the Bengals drafted Tyler Boyd from Pittsburgh in the second round. Training camp and the four preseason games will provide a first glimpse of how they fit.EIFERTS REPLACEMENT: Tyler Eifert had surgery on his left ankle this summer and is expected to miss most of training camp and perhaps a few games early in the season. He had one of the best seasons in club history, catching 52 passes for 615 yards and 13 touchdowns, a club record for a tight end. Theres not much experience behind him in the tight end group.WATCH HIM WHILE YOU CAN: Burfict can practice with the team until the first week of the season, and then hell sit out three games including a rematch with the Steelers on Sunday, Sept. 18 in Pittsburgh. Burficts illegal hit on Brown after an incomplete pass sailed over his head moved the Steelers into field-goal range for their playoff win.THE BUZZ: The Bengals playoff failures -- an NFL record of five straight first-round losses -- appear to have taken a toll on fan support. The Bengals had only three crowds of 65,000 fans at Paul Brown Stadium during the regular season last year as they won the AFC North. Three times, they drew fewer than 58,000. The filled 93 percent of their seats, which ranks only 24th in the league. Itll be interesting to see what kind of crowds they draw for camp.---Online: AP NFL website: and AP NFL Twitter feed: Authentic Jerseys 2020 . Giroud, who wasnt in the starting lineup for two matches after allegations about his private life and a decline in form, scored twice in the first half. Tomas Rosickys chip made it 3-0 before half time at Emirates Stadium, while defender Laurent Koscielny scored an unmarked header in the second half. Andrew Luck lost his favourite target and the Indianapolis locker room lost one of its most revered leaders when Reggie Wayne was diagnosed Monday with a torn anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee that will cost him the rest of the season.PITTSBURGH -- Once opponents get into the red zone, the Steelers take it as a challenge to keep them out of the end zone.Thats part of the reason why Pittsburghs defense leads the league in stops inside the 20-yard line, including four goal-line stands in the past two weeks, entering Sundays road game against the Buffalo Bills. Its a short field and teams feel like they can get it on you, Steelers linebacker Lawrence Timmons said. They want to get one up on you, so as a defense, when you stop that, you go out there and assert yourself in a certain way and thats what we do.Timmons did as much when he came through with a game-changing interception at the goal line last Sunday against the New York Giants.Timmons picked off Eli Manning and the Steelers offense capitalized with a touchdown a little more than a minute later. Linebacker Ryan Shazier later broke up a pass on fourth-and-1 from the 3-yard line, helping the Steelers win their third straight game.Thats huge when you have an offense about to score and you stop them, Timmons said. Were just trying to stop them and get the ball back to our offense. The Steelers rank 19th against the pass, giving up 256 yards per game and 14th in total yards allowed at almost 350 per game. But Pittsburgh leads the NFL in red-zone touchdown efficiency at 42.5 percent, as opponents have scored 17 touchdowns in 40 red-zone drives this season. We dont want to let them get down there, but when they get down there, we have to keep them out, safety Mike Mitchell said. Thats our job.Pittsburgh gave up 113 points during a recent four-game losing streak, but the Steelers have stiffened since, allowing just 30 points the previous three games. The Steelers, ranked No. 7 in the league in scoring defense at 19.7 points per game, held each of their previous three opponents to 14 points or less for the first time since 2011.Teams are tryiing to score points and were just trying to shut them down, Shazier said.ddddddddddddWe practice that every day, so when we get down (in the red zone), were ready for the situation.Preparation has been key for the Steelers, who regularly practice a goal-line drill called seven shots, where the offense has seven chances to score on the defense from the 2-yard line. More than that, the Steelers focus on an area they call the field goal fringe in addition to red zone and goal-line work.We get a lot of work against some good players, Steelers defensive coordinator Keith Butler said. We try out different things to see if it works against our offense. If it works against our offense, its probably going to work against everybody elses offense. The Steelers offense is one of the most prolific in the league, led by two-time Super Bowl winner Ben Roethlisberger. Antonio Brown is among the league leaders in receptions, receiving yards and touchdowns. Running back LeVeon Bell leads the league in yards from scrimmage per game and ranks second in rushing yards per contest. Its good practice for the Steelers defense when the opposition reaches the red zone. The players we have on our offense, its hard for everybody in the NFL to stop them, Shazier said. If we can shut them down, we definitely feel like we can shut anybody down.Game notesK Chris Boswell (abdomen), G Ramon Foster (chest), DT Javon Hargrave (concussion), WR Darrius Heyward-Bey (foot) and S Shamarko Thomas (concussion) did not practice for a second straight day. ... TE Ladarius Green (not injury related), QB Zach Mettenberger (illness) and RB DeAngelo Williams (knee) also missed practice Thursday.---For more NFL coverage: and ' ' '
