TORONTO -- Boston slugger David Ortiz went out with a bang in his final regular-season game in Toronto.Ortiz drilled a three-run homer in the sixth inning, Jackie Bradley Jr. and Hanley Ramirez also connected, and the Red Sox outslugged Toronto 11-8 Sunday, reclaiming a two-game lead over the Blue Jays in the AL East.Wins are wins no matter what but some wins are different, Ortiz said. Some wins can get you some momentum.Ortiz put Boston up 10-8 with a drive off Joaquin Benoit. It was his 41st career home run at Rogers Centre, his highest total at any road stadium.Toronto is a very nice place to play baseball and a beautiful city, Ortiz said. Its always a pleasure to come here. With his 535th career homer, Ortiz moved past Jimmie Foxx into sole possession of 18th place on baseballs career list. He also increased his RBI total to 110, the most by a player age 40 or above since Dave Winfield had 108 for Toronto in 1992.Were somewhat in awe of what David is doing in his final run, Red Sox manager John Farrell said.Starter Clay Buchholz said Ortiz is having a hell of a going away party.Edwin Encarnacion homered twice and Troy Tulowitzki hit his third career grand slam, but the Blue Jays couldnt force a tie in the standings. Toronto and Baltimore are tied for the lead in the wild-card race.It just didnt go our way today, Tulowitzki said. Theres a lot of time left.Toronto finishes the regular season with three games at Fenway Park.Obviously we cant sit back and relax, Boston second baseman Dustin Pedroia said. We know our division is good and weve got to continue to play well.Pedroia and Xander Bogaerts singled against Bo Schultz (0-1) before Benoit came on to face Ortiz, who swung and missed the first pitch but connected on the second.Ortiz hit a tying grand slam off Benoit, then with Detroit, in Game 2 of the 2013 ALCS at Fenway Park. Boston went on to win 6-5.This might not have been the same stage but where we are, against (Toronto), really no less important, Farrell said.Robbie Ross Jr. (3-2) got two outs for the win. Craig Kimbrel, the ninth Boston pitcher, worked the ninth for his 25th save.Toronto also used nine pitchers.Blue Jays manager John Gibbons was ejected in the ninth after the umpires ruled Russell Martins double into the right field corner, initially ruled fair, had landed foul. Toronto challenged, but the call was confirmed. Martin later struck out.Encarnacion hit a solo home run off Buchholz in the first, singled and scored in the third, and then hit a two-run shot off Heath Hembree in the fourth. It was his fourth multihomer game of the season and No. 25 for his career. Encarnacion has 39 home runs and leads the AL with 115 RBI.After Martin walked on four pitches with the bases loaded in the fourth, Tulowitzki hammered Buchholzs first pitch for his 23rd home run.Boston tied it at 6 and chased Aaron Sanchez on a two-out, two-run single by Bogaerts in the fourth, but Toronto answered with Encarnacions second homer in the bottom half. After Ramirez cut it to 8-7 with a drive to deep center in the fifth, Bostons Brock Holt tried to steal home but was thrown out by reliever Aaron Loup.It definitely would have been a lot cooler if I had got in there safe, Holt said.THE STREAK CONTINUESPedroia has hit safely in 29 straight games against Toronto, the longest active streak by any player against a single opponent.TRAINERS ROOMRed Sox: Holt was tagged on his sore right shoulder as he dove back to first base on a pickoff attempt in the fifth. He was checked by a trainer and stayed in.UP NEXTRed Sox: LHP David Price (15-8, 3.87 ERA) seeks his seventh straight win as Boston returns home for a three-game series against Baltimore. LHP Wade Miley (8-12, 5.49 ERA) starts for the Orioles.Blue Jays: LHP Francisco Liriano (7-12, 5.27 ERA) starts the opener of a three-game series against Tampa Bay on Monday. Liriano last started Aug. 26 against Minnesota and has made two relief appearances since. RHP Jake Odorizzi (9-6, 3.86 ERA) starts for the Rays. Shareef Miller Eagles Jersey . There are some early surprises in the race for the Hart Trophy, but two of the contenders are the leagues biggest stars over the past decade. There are many more players in contention for the awards than just the three that Ive named, and a good or bad week can easily alter the landscape, but through the first 20 or so games of the NHL season, this is how the awards races look to me. Clayton Thorson Womens Jersey . Scott Kazmir allowed four hits in seven shutout innings, Michael Brantley hit a two-run homer in a three-run first inning and the Indians maintained their hold on an AL wild-card spot with a 4-1 win over the Houston Astros on Saturday night. http://www.theeaglesfootballauthentic.com/eagles-clayton-thorson-black-jersey/ . The visitors took a deserved lead in the 16th minute with midfielder Yohan Cabaye curling the ball beyond Adrian from inside the penalty area. Harold Carmichael Youth Jersey . The Cincinnati Reds remain perfect with their speedy rookie outfielder in the starting lineup. Harold Carmichael Eagles Jersey . -- Lou Brocks shoulder-to-shoulder collision with Bill Freehan during the 1968 World Series and Pete Roses bruising hit on Ray Fosse in the 1970 All-Star game could become relics of baseball history, like the dead-ball era. CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- Derek Anderson is preparing as if he will start Monday night against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers with Cam Newton still in the leagues concussion protocol. The 33-year-old Anderson took reps with Carolinas first-team offense for the second straight day , while Newton did not attend the teams outdoor practice.Panthers coach Ron Rivera offered little in terms of an update on Newtons playing status, saying he wont make a decision on the 2015 MVP until later this week.We are not forcing players to get onto the football field, Rivera said emphatically Thursday. We will do exactly as the protocol tells us and what the doctors and experts tell us.The NFL is still investigating how the Panthers handled a helmet-to-helmet hit Newton took in the fourth quarter of a Week 1 loss to the Denver Broncos. Newton stayed in and completed that game despite a ferocious blow to the head. NFL spokesman Brian McCarthy told The Associated Press on Thursday the league had no update on that investigation.Newton was one of six starters who didnt practice Thursday.Running back Jonathan Stewart (hamstring), left tackle Michael Oher (concussion), defensive end Charles Johnson (quad), linebacker Thomas Davis (hamstring) and cornerback James Bradberry (foot) also sat out. Six other starters, including wide receiver Ted Ginn Jr., were limited in practice as the injuries continue to mount for the struggling Panthers (1-3).The Panthers have absolute confidence in Anderson should he be pressed into a starting role, according to Rivera.Anderson is 20-25 as an NFL starter, but 2-0 since joining the Panthers six years ago. Coincidentally, both of those wins came against the Buccaneers in 2014.Hes done a great job for us, Rivera said. Hes been here the whole time and has been very steady. And guys have confidence in him as well, and thats very important.Rivera said the game plan wouldnt change if Anderson starts, although he joked he probably would elect to hand the ball off more than Newton when it comes to running the read opption.ddddddddddddNewton has struggled so far this season with only six touchdown passes and five interceptions in four starts. He has been sacked 13 times.Newton left last Sundays game against Atlanta in the fourth quarter when he took a hit from Falcons linebacker Deion Jones on a 2-point conversion run. Anderson relieved Newton and threw two touchdown passes to get Carolina back in the game. However, two costly interceptions of Anderson in the closing minutes, and the defenses inability to get a stop, were costly in the 48-33 loss. The Panthers face the Saints the following Sunday and then have a bye, so its possible the team could err on the side of caution and keep the franchise quarterback out until Oct. 30.If I do end up playing I want to prepare and not let my teammates down, Anderson said. I know the expectations are high and the bar has been set here. ... We still have a lot of good football players in this room and we can turn this thing around. If Anderson starts, look for him to key on tight end Greg Olsen.Olsen caught 18 passes for 193 yards and a touchdown in the two games Anderson started against Tampa Bay in 2014. The duo also hooked up for a touchdown and a 2-point conversion last week against the Falcons.Hes probably better than a lot of starters in this league, Olsen said of Anderson. Were happy to have him and lucky to have him.Game notes If Oher cant play, the Panthers will again move Mike Remmers to left tackle and start Daryl Williams at right tackle against the Bucs (1-3). ... Stewart has missed the last two games with a hamstring injury but is making progress running in the pool, Rivera said. Cameron Artis-Payne will split carries with change-of-pace back Fozzy Whittaker if Stewart remains out of action. ... Rookie Daryl Worley will see increased action if Bradberry isnt able to start.---AP NFL website: www.pro32.ap.org and http://twitter.com/AP-NFL ' ' '
