ISTANBUL, Turkey -- Ebenezer Assifuah scored his second goal in the closing minutes of extra time as Ghana beat Chile 4-3 to reach the semifinals of the Under-20 World Cup on Sunday. Assifuahs header completed Ghanas comeback after Angelo Henriquez put Chile 3-2 up in the eighth minute of extra time. Seidu Salifu equalized in the 113th after being set up by Clifford Aboagye. Both teams were locked at 2-2 in regulation. "This was really a cliffhanger match," Ghana coach Sellas Tetteh said. "That is what this tournament is about, to show good football and to entertain people." The only African nation to win the event, in 2009, Ghana will next play France while Iraq takes on Uruguay in the other semifinal. Earlier Sunday, Iraq conceded the lead three times to draw 3-3 with South Korea before winning a penalty shootout. Tetteh praised his team for coming from behind for a second straight match. In the previous knockout round, Ghana beat Portugal 3-2 with two late goals. "We didnt panic, we still played our type of football," Tetteh said. "I have to give credit to the boys ... this was a complete performance from a determined team." Earlier in the tournament, Ghana narrowly escaped elimination after losing group matches against Spain and France before advancing on goal difference following a 4-1 win against the United States. "Its a wonderful feeling for us to progress to the semifinal," Tetteh said. "We started from a very low point. The progression of this team is wonderful." Ghana took the lead in the 11th when Frank Acheampong set up Moses Odjer, who controlled the ball on his chest before hammering it past goalkeeper Dario Melo. Nicolas Castillo scored his fourth goal of the tournament with a fierce strike to level in the 23rd, and Henriquez gave Chile the lead four minutes later with a low shot from just outside the area. Ghana pressed for an equalizer in the second half and got its reward in the 72nd when Ebenezer Assifuah hit the target for his first goal. Iraq striker Farhan Shakor, who scored twice in regulation, converted the decisive penalty after Lee Chang-geuns spot kick was saved by goalkeeper Mohammed Hameed. Iraq beat Paraguay 1-0 through Shakors goal in extra time in the previous round. Iraqs previous best achievement was reaching the quarterfinals in 1989. After the match ended 2-2, Farhan looked to have sent Iraq through with his goal in the 118th minute, only for substitute Jung Hyun-cheol to equalize for South Korea with the last kick of the match. Two minutes after coming on, Jungs 25-meter strike was deflected by the defence to give Hameed no chance. South Korea, which missed injured top-scorer Ryu Seung-woo, beat Colombia in a shootout in the previous round. It also defeated Iraq on penalties during the final of this years Asian Under-19 Championship. Playing without suspended key striker Mohanad Abdulraheem, Iraq took the lead in the 21st minute from a penalty by Ali Faez after Kim Hy-un fouled Ali Adnan in the area. Five minutes later, Kwon Chang-hoon headed the ball into the net from a far throw-in by South Korea left back Sim Sang-min. Three minutes before halftime, Shakor made it 2-1 with his first off a rebound after goalkeeper Lee Chang-geun saved a shot by Ali Qasim. In the 50th, Iraq levelled again as loose defending by Iraq allowed Lee Gwang-hun, who replaced Kim at halftime, to score with a header at the near post. DOVER, Del. -- Jimmie Johnson will do everything in his power to avoid the issue that ruined his 2015 Chase for the Sprint Cup at Dover. In other words, hell do nothing. His crew chief, Chad Knaus, and his crew will do everything in their power to avoid the issue. In other words, theyll do pretty much, well, nothing.A faulty axle seal could happen just as easily -- or just as rarely -- at Dover International Speedway again Sunday afternoon and eliminate Johnson from Chase contention just as it did a year ago.We really felt like there was nothing we could do, which is an answer that Chad Knaus does not like, Johnson said.So Johnson, who enters the Citizen Soldier 400 at eighth in the standings with an 18-point cushion on the current cutoff spot, cant feel as if he is racing Sunday at a track where he has 10 Sprint Cup wins (which he does). All he needs to do is finish 12th and he advances in the Chase no matter what anyone else does -- something that he could do in his sleep. But Johnson entered the 2015 race fifth in points and needing to finish just 26th. He left on the outside looking in thanks to a $50 part that came apart and resulted in Johnson being one of the four drivers eliminated. When the Chase starts, youre nervous every lap at every track, Johnson said. Theres no way around it. There is so much on the line. You go all year for this moment.Usually your past experiences cause you to be more nervous and concerned for whatever reason. So yeah, definitely nervous. ... [This is] where the past comes in and creeps into all of our minds. Maybe its just the way I think. Maybe Im a glass-is-half-empty type of guy.Seriously, if any track existed where Johnson should have confidence, the 1-mile concrete oval at Dover is one. He has led 3,003 laps at the track. He has 20 top-10s in 29 starts. He enters the race weekend feeling good about the speed hiss Hendrick Motorsports cars have had the past couple of months.dddddddddddd He squandered a potential win in the Chase opener at Chicagoland two weeks ago when he sped on pit road. He followed the 12th-place finish at Chicagoland with an eighth at New Hampshire.I feel good that were more competitive, Johnson said. Now its just time to execute in a smooth fashion. Were going to need to [in order] to make it into the final four. There was a time when such talk didnt exist about Johnson advancing through the first three rounds of the Chase to earn one of the four spots eligible to win the championship in the finale at Homestead. Hendrick as a whole hasnt had the greatest of seasons. But Johnson said he believes he and teammate Chase Elliott have a shot.In the summer leading into the Chase, we were fast enough to get out of the first round, but I wouldnt put us in the championship-caliber position, Johnson said.I think were still building that way. We still need some more work to go to Homestead, lead, dominate the race and win as we think well need to [in order] to be the champion. But first things first: He must make it through Dover without a dreaded seal coming apart. You just kind of let it roll off your shoulders and go on, Johnson said. Theres nothing we can really learn from that experience to take into this year. The team has not made significant changes to the seals.Theyre the same axle seals Ive ever raced on, Johnson said. We all have been nervous of them, and occasionally you have a failure. Its a year behind us now and a lot of water has gone under the bridge.Hopefully the discussion about it doesnt do something to the universe and bring it back for us or someone else. But we dont expect to have a problem there. ' ' '
